Jane Muschenetz

Jane (Yevgenia!) Muschenetz arrived in the US as a child refugee from Soviet Ukraine. MIT graduate and former Bain Management Consultant, Jane is a 2023 City of Encinitas Exhibiting Artist and winner of The Good Life Review 2022 Poetry Prize. Her debut poetry collection, All the Bad Girls Wear Russian Accents (Kelsay, 2023), was shortlisted for the Jacar Press Chapbook Prize.

Inside the cocoon
Every butterfly
Is a holy mess

Sweet things spend air
--Roses and bees, drunk on life, mad!
(with it all) and everywhere--
wings

Love
is surprisingly heavy
for a thing
that flies

Harvest
Take me apart.
Take a part, me.
Part me,
Take.

Keeping Time
like keeping score,
like keeping a promise,
—a job, or a friend,
faith, or
a secret

The world is all about us
And all about us? is Love!
We Tide the Earth together
We Sun and Moon the sky
We share a universal understanding
